Music on Centre presents An Evening with Dean Stevens and Friends

November 30 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

This amazing collaboration of four virtuosic musicians clearly enjoy their work!  Their love of the music is infectious as one marvels at their instrumental expertise. Featured are Rob Flax on the violin, Dean Stevens on the guitar, Eric Kilburn on the mandolin, and Max Ridley on the bass. The choice of the mostly original songs they sing is always surprising and always fun. Spend your Thanksgiving weekend with us; you will be glad you did.

Dean is an exuberant performer of distinctive style and wit, who combines an intricate, self-taught guitar style with a versatile and expressive singing voice. His six albums explore a variety of personal and social topics, paints sketches of people and places, celebrates the Earth, and annoys the narrow minded.

“Seeing and hearing Dean Stevens live on stage is proof that sanity, literacy, love, hope, and the forces of good are still alive and well and at work in the universe. Losing your faith? Go to a Dean Stevens concert!” ~ Geoff Bartley

Rob Flax is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist, composer, and educator with a playful heart and an open mind who has performed nationally and internationally with groups of many different styles ( rock, blues, classical, bluegrass) while masterfully playing different instruments ( violin, viola, mandolin, upright bass) .  His favorite composer is Fred Rogers, and like Mister Rogers Rob strives to create a better world using his musical gifts to spread light and joy.

A major presence in the Boston folk scene since the 1980’s, Eric Kilburn has released acclaimed albums for over seven years, had songs covered by Arlo Guthrie and Pete Seeger, and is also known for his recording studio where some of the greats, such as Catie Curtis, Martin Sexton, Crooked Still and Robbie O’Connell, have made their albums.

Max Ridley is a citizen of the world and shares his many talents on the upright bass in various jazz, rock and folk combos, including the Boom Chick trio which wowed the audience here at Music on Centre in December, 2023. He is a graduate of Berklee College of Music and teaches there as well as at several other music schools, considering his work as a musician and teacher to fall under the larger umbrella of Spiritual Service Industry.

Admission – $25 for adults, $10 for those 21 and under.
