During this course we will read and discuss the early writings of Theodore Parker, Ralph Waldo Emerson and William Ellery Channing contained in Conrad Wright’s Three Prophets of Religious Liberalism. Jessica Mink and David Parke, veterans of last spring’s UU history course, are co-leaders.
We will meet on four consecutive Mondays, October 20 and 27, and November 3 and 10, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the sanctuary lobby. Contact David, 617-522-6464, or Jessica, 617-340-9714, for more information and to let them know you plan to join them.
A teaser from Emerson’s Divinity School Address (1838); “Religious sentiment … is guarded by one stern condition, namely, it is an intuition. It cannot be received at second hand. Truly speaking, it is not instruction but provocation that I can receive from another soul.”
For a copy of the book, contact Julie McVay, 617-325-3716. Cost is $14.70; books are also available to borrow
