The Rev. Joseph Boyd, our guest minister, will be offering the service on Mother’s Day.
Rabindranath Tagore wrote: “my mother’s voice gave meaning to the stars.” Our relationship with our mother, whether birth, adopted, or in idea only, is one of our formative religious experiences, shaping the direction of our lives. It stokes a yearning that never truly leaves us. What is this yearning teaching us this Mother’s Day?
Rev. Joseph Boyd is minister at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Youngstown in Youngstown, Ohio. He has been grateful to offer ministry within a variety of flagship Unitarian Universalist churches, including All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and First Unitarian Church in Portland, Oregon. He has also learned much by ministering within the community, including a chaplaincy at Rikers Island Correctional Facility in New York City. These experiences have confirmed his suspicion that right now is the most exciting time in American history to be a Unitarian Universalist. He would like to express his gratitude to Theodore Parker Church for inviting him to our pulpit.
