Our guest speaker, Brenda Rogers, lives at the intersection of Unitarian Universalism and American Buddhism, having been an active Unitarian Universalist for 30 years and a Buddhist practitioner for 13. She is trained as a teacher of MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) and MSC (Mindful Self-Compassion), which both focus on the application of mindfulness practices to relieve stress. This service will look beyond the practice of mIndfulness (sati) as a stress-relief tool to consider it as a way toward insight (vipassana) and wisdom (panna). After the service, Brenda will lead a discussion with people interested in talking more about any questions or issues raised by her sermon.
