Water Communion: Floods and Droughts

In our Water Communion and Ingathering service, we gather together as a community for the first time since the summer. We invite everyone to bring water that holds special meaning to you, an empty cup in recognition of the lack of water access in Gaza (see more info about the Empty Cup ritual below), or both. We will celebrate being back in our spiritual community through ritual, music, and messages.

This fall, UUs for Justice in the Middle East (UUJME, founded in 1971) is inviting UUs to participate in a symbolic act of witness during their Ingathering Water Communion by bringing an empty cup or other empty container to the service and quietly spill some ‘missing water’ into the vessel in a prayerful action in sympathy with Palestinians in Gaza who are denied potable water by Israel.

Extra cups will be available for those who may wish to participate in either/both rituals, provided by members of Diana’s List (a TPC group that engages Middle East issues, named in memory of beloved church member Diana Digges).

This is a multigenerational service, meaning that children of all ages are welcome and invited to join for the entire service (and there will be no seperate children’s programming). Childcare for children under 4 will be available in the nursery in our Parish Hall.
