It’s hard to access our imagination in crisis mode. When we can’t possibly see past the problem that has us backed into a corner, how are we supposed to fix our sights on a distant vision of hope and transformation? I’ve been wrestling with this question, and David Whyte’s poem “Sweet Darkness” spoke to me:“When your vision has gone,no part of the world can find you.“Time to go into the darkwhere the night has eyesto recognize its own.”In this sermon I’ll share my reflections on the power of “night vision.” As your new Affiliate Community Minister, it will be my honor and delight to lead worship with you!
