Johanna Conant leads the service. We care — not only for an intellectual search for truth about the world in which we live, a life-long pursuit — but for our search for the truth about ourselves. Rev. Barbara Rohde wrote that we catch glimpses of who we are by looking at our past and by recognizing ideas that move us. Those truths are often found in the words we live by.
Johanna is a graduate of Bates College, Lewiston, Maine, where she majored in English and minored in education. She received an MA in English from Trinity College, Hartford, and a second MA in Religious Research from Andover Newton Theological Seminary in 2001.
She enjoyed her work as a secondary school English teacher, an adjunct faculty member at Manchester Community College, and, more recently, at the University of Hartford where, along with a faculty member, she developed a Peace Project that became a new course, “Building Cultures of Peace.” Along with English teaching, she worked as a contract technical writer of software manuals. Retired now from technical writing and teaching, she resides in Windsor Locks, CT, and enjoys guest preaching, quilting, gardening and her grandchildren.
