Laughing at Ourselves, Believing in Ourselves – April 1, 2012

There’s no shortage of jokes about Unitarian Universalists. Some of those jokes are affectionate, some cynical, some reveal a truth about us, and some perpetuate a falsehood. It’s a wonderful thing about UUs that we can poke fun at ourselves and our ways. It guards against self-righteousness. And yet we also need to be able to speak with confidence about the vital commitments for which we stand. This Sunday is our annual pledge drive kick-off. It’s a day to celebrate with laughter why Theodore Parker Church is important in our lives and in the world.
