Music and Choir
As visitors soon discover, music is integral to our worship services at Theodore Parker Church, in terms of both participation and appreciation. Services typically include a prelude, postlude, offertory, and two or more hymns. The Theodore Parker Singers perform once or twice a month. Masks are required for all singing.
We are fortunate to have on staff our outstanding longtime pianist, Yukiko Takagi. Yukiko, a featured performer with the Callithumpian Consort, performs during most services. Read an interview with her HERE. In June 2024 we bid farewell to Michael Johnson, our music director, who directed the choir, wrote and arranged much of the choir’s music, and helped in countless ways to enrich our worship services for 16 years. He will be missed. We hope to announce our new Interim Director of Music Ministry this fall.
The choir welcomes new voices any time. Rehearsals are on Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
Many members of our congregation are also talented musicians. Our fabulous House Band of winds and strings plays during services several times a year, including at our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. Come play with us!
